19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving play style and regular outbursts on court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.

He saved 4 initial chances in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
